We started our 2013/ 2014 pea programme on Wednesday 30 July. The picture shows planting of a local paddock just north of Gisborne. This area is characterised by deep, free draining recent river silt soil which are common on the Poverty Bay Flats. We expect to be harvesting this paddock around the middle of November.
This week the vegetable powder line was busy processing Cedenco's newest product drum dried green pea powder. The final powder has a vivid green colour and a fresh pea flavour
DROUGHT in the district has not been all bad. Gisborne food processing company Cedenco Foods has had a bumper crop this season.
Since 2008 Cedenco has been taking part in the Keep Gisborne Beautiful “Adopt A Highway” scheme and keeping this particular beachfront stretch of main highway clean and tidy. A willing team of staff are inducted prior to each cleanup with the hazards of working on a busy main highway explained.
